One Of The Few Claims With Real Support
Most ingredients in the weight management aisle have thin evidence behind them. Green tea is a partial exception, which is why it turns up in so many formulas — including as green tea extract in Alkatide.
What The Studies Found
Meta-analyses of green tea catechin trials have reported small but detectable differences in energy expenditure and body weight over about twelve weeks. The proposed mechanism is that catechins, especially EGCG, work with caffeine to slightly increase the rate at which you use energy and oxidise fat.
Note the word small. We are talking about differences measured in fractions of a kilogram over three months, not a transformation.
The Caffeine Question
A lot of the measured effect in these studies comes from catechins and caffeine together rather than catechins alone. Green tea extract carries a modest amount of naturally occurring caffeine — considerably less than a cup of coffee.
Practical consequence: if you are caffeine sensitive, take it in the morning. If you already drink four coffees a day, the extra is a rounding error.
What Green Tea Will Not Do
It will not override a diet. Nothing does. If green tea extract nudges energy expenditure by a small percentage and your eating changes by more than that in the other direction, the maths ends where you would expect.
The Antioxidant Side Is Less Argued About
The research on catechins as antioxidants is stronger and much less controversial than the weight research. In Alkatide it works next to Pomegranate, which brings polyphenols of its own. That side of the formula is about general wellness support rather than the scale.
A Note On High Doses
Very high-dose green tea extract taken on an empty stomach has been linked in case reports to liver problems. That is one reason a supportive dose inside a broader formula is a more sensible structure than a single high-dose extract. If you already take a green tea supplement, do not stack a second one on top.
A note on what this is. This article is general information, not medical advice. Alkatide is a dietary supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If you take prescription medicine or manage a health condition, speak to your doctor before starting any supplement.
